About the Role
RisingAssist is seeking a compassionate and attentive Transportation Aide (Ride-Along Support Staff) to assist with the safe transport of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to and from our day support program and community-based activities.
This role works alongside the Driver to ensure participants are properly supervised, supported, and safe during transport. The Transportation Aide is responsible for assisting with boarding and exiting the vehicle, maintaining participant engagement and behavior support during transit, and responding to any immediate needs or concerns.
The ideal candidate is patient, observant, and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple participants in a moving environment while maintaining a calm and structured atmosphere.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Experience in caregiving, healthcare, or human services preferred
Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred
Strong communication and observation skills
Ability to remain calm in high-stress or unexpected situations
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain
Physical Skills
Ability to assist participants in and out of the vehicle
Ability to secure wheelchairs and mobility devices
Ability to remain alert and attentive during transport
Peferred Skills
Experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Knowledge of behavior management techniques
Familiarity with transportation safety procedures
